New Grade Policy
Dear Parents,

I have instituted a new grade policy that I would like all of you to be aware of.  The past two quarters I allowed students to turn in their assignments up to five days late.  I also allowed students to get all missing work in just prior to the end of the grading periods.  The students received lowered grades for late work.

These next two quarters will work in the following manner.  Eighth grade students will not be allowed to turn in any late work.  If they do not have the assignment done on the day it's due they will automatically receive a zero. The seventh grade students may turn in assignments one day late but will receive one full grade lower than they would have earned.  If the assignment comes in two days late it will receive a zero.

I have decided to put this new policy in place for a few reasons.  The eighth graders have been told that teachers in high school do not accept any late work.  So, I want my students to get in the habit of turning in assignments on time.  Many of my seventh graders have struggled the past two quarters getting assignments in on time.  I'm hoping that with my new policy they will not put off completing their assignments until "another" day.

There are always extenuating circumstances that can come up so I will work with students individually when that occurs.  If students are absent they receive a grace period of one day for each day of absence.  Some of the kids may not be too sick to do the homework even though they are at home.  They will always find the homework on my website.

I hope to see you all at conferences the beginning of February.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES ARE COMING SOON!

Mark your calendars!

7-8 CONFERENCES

will be held on Thursday, February 4, from

12:15-5:15 p.m.

These conferences are scheduled in an OPEN HOUSE format.  All 7-8 classrooms will be open, and you are invited to drop in for conferences throughout the afternoon.  We will follow a STUDENT LED CONFERENCE format; each student will present his/her work to you in each classroom.  Teachers will be there to answer any questions you may have or to assist with the conference.  No appointment is necessary during the above scheduled times.  We look forward to meeting with you and your child and sharing the accomplishments of our 1st quarter of learning!

Report cards were issued on Friday, January 8. Please return the 2nd quarter report card and the envelope to the homeroom teacher, or bring it with you on conference day.

If you are unable to attend during our scheduled conference times, please feel free to contact a teacher(s) directly via email or by telephone. Thanks!

Nothing But The Truth
Students and Parents,

Please go through your backpack and check your home for any NBTT books.  We are missing quite a few and I need to get them returned to me so we can send them to the Mustang library.

If we are missing some copies I will incur the cost of replacement which at this time is considerable.

Thank you so much,

Mrs. Gerberich
Report Cards
Dear Parents,

Report cards will be sent home with students this Friday, Oct. 23rd.  You should receive a grade report from each academic subject, a report from the Specials' classes your child took this quarter, and student self-reflection sheets on the enrichment classes taken.  Please sign the Language Arts Progress Report and have your child return it to me.

Thank you,

Mrs. Gerberich

Welcome to Language Arts, Period 4
Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Language Arts, Period 4.

I will maintain this website to share class announcements, grades, and assignments.  If you check in once a week you will be able to see what we have been working on.  I will try to up-date this website on a weekly basis.  Homework will be posted daily.

I would appreciate it if parents would send me their email addresses so that if something comes up I will be able to communicate with you very quickly.  Email is the best way to reach me.

Please don't hesitate to email or call if you have a question or concern.

Regards,

Karen L. Gerberich
